When Sweetie and I arrived in the city, we found the DEN girls hanging out with some pigeons. Sweetie wanted to get a closer look. We don't have birds like this in the country!

A Change in Plans

I was heading from Williams Bay to Milwaukee and then on to Green Bay, when I heard that a group of DEN Stars were meeting in Chicago for a mini DEN event. I just couldn't pass up the chance to see my friends, so Sweetie and I hopped on this train and headed to the city!

DEN Star Karie Huttner

DEN Star Karie Huttner is making us feel at home in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. After school today, she took us out to nearby Lake Geneva. Plan to spend some time with the bunnies when we get back to the house.

Sweetie and I were just thinking about finding a park bench for the night and who do we run into but DEN Star Rachel Yurk? Looks like we're staying in Brookfield, Wisconsin tonight! Aren't DEN Stars the best?

Stocking Up on Groceries

Sweetie and I were cruising through the mall in Milwaukee and who do we see coming out of the Apple store??? None other than DEN Star, Rita Mortenson! How Exciting!

Making up Time

Lost some time in Chicago! After some figuring, I realize that 10 miles a day ain't gonna cut it! From here on out, we're increasing our drive to 15 miles a day! Hopefully Sweetie can do it! Only 1370 miles to go and 123 days to get there! Gives us a little room for sightseeing along the way

Snuck up on the Dembos!

Today, Sweetie and I snuck up on Steve Dembo and his son, Aiden at their home near Chicago! Got to meet sweet baby Ruby and Steve's wife, Jessica. We had an awesome dinner and they let us stay for the night. Thank you for your hospitality, Dembos!!!! See you in Montana, Steve!

St. Patrick's Day in Chicago

I think the most exciting part of the day was riding the train with Liz. In Chicago, they call the train, "The L" and they use it to go most everywhere! Sweetie was a bit nervous at first, but after a while, she didn't want to get off the train. I guess it felt good to rest her weary legs for a while and let someone else do the transporting!

Finally Found My Girls!

Rode around the city all afternoon looking for my daughters, Sara and Mandy. Finally managed to find them on the Lake Michigan beach.

Flat Stanley and Chicago

We arrived in Chicago today! What a great city! Apparently Flat Stanley was here too. I asked a man to take our picture, then we rode over to the bridge. I didn't even see Flat Stanley until I uploaded the picture. Crazy, huh?

Golfing in Gary

A gorgeous day in Gary, Indiana today. Found a golf course, played a few holes, and now we're back on the road. Chicago, here we come!

Tack Swap

Sweetie and I were trudging up Route 65 when I saw a sign for a Tack Swap in Green Acres, IN. I thought, "Awesome! I can buy something new for DENSI and check out this cool town!" We marched right into the store and I got me these awesome new threads!

Acceptance!!!!!

Woke up this morning, checked my email and read the DEN Weekly Update! Sweetie and I were ecstatic to get the news that we have been accepted into the Discovery Education National Summer Institute. Of course, we would have been there anyway, but I'm glad we don't have to stand outside the gates looking in!

Tornadoes, Floods and Mud!

It was a rough week for traveling on horseback! For those of you worried about us running into one of those tornadoes in Indiana, no fear. They were south of where we were. We did however run into torrential downpours and excessive wind. Nonetheless, we are still in one piece and moving on!
